Batyline® mesh is a French made material used in
the Flexy and Fusion Light collections. Batyline® is
an extremely durable and high quality material
consisting of a polyester fiber covered by a coating
of PVC, making it nearly impossible to tear. It is
100% synthetic and resistant to rot and mildew. It
is highly resistant to UV radiation and fading,
although like all materials left outdoors, slight
discoloration is unavoidable over time. The
membrane is flame retardant, although the material
can melt near a heat source (i.e. from a cigarette
burn.) It can withstand temperature extremes,
ranging from -30°C (-22°F) to 70°C (158°F.)
Note: Direct contact against heat lamps, lights,
or other heat sources should be avoided.
The flexibility of material is ideal for clients
wishing to avoid the need for cushions.
Also, its resilient properties make it an ideal
material to be near swimming pools or other
aggressive environments with chlorine or salt water
(However, please take note to “Stainless Steel
frames” brochure for your stainless steel frames.)
Sagging is minimal as it has a maximum stretch of
3%. It also has a “memory” – it will slowly regain
its original shape after it has been used, especially
when placed out in the sun.
Avoid sharp objects from coming in contact with
the material, as it can be cut.
Designed to last a long time, there is little need to
replace one of these slings. However, should you
wish to, Batyline® slings can be purchased
separately for some of our furniture frames, in
order to replace an old sling, or simply change
colors. Please contact us for more details on which
frames can accommodate switching out Batyline®
slings.
Under the manufacturer’s “Texyloop” recycling
process, the high quality of Batyline® has allowed
for it to be reused in numerous industrial
applications. Please contact your local recycling
program to find out if this material is accepted.
COLORS
Samples are available of all color swatches –
please contact us with your request.
CLEANING
To clean, simply wash mesh, with a mild natural
soap (such as a liquid dish detergent) and fresh
water, using a soft bristle brush. Rinse and dry
with a cloth, to avoid water stains from settling on
the stainless steel frames.

Office chair, is a chair that is designed for use at a desk in an office. It is generally comfortable and adjustable and can swivel 360 degrees.

The office chair was strategically designed to increase the productivity of clerical employees by making it possible for them to remain sitting at their desks for long periods of time. A swiveling chair with caster wheels allowed employees to remain sitting and yet reach a number of locations within their work area, eliminating the time and energy expended in standing. The wooden saddle seat was designed to fit and support the body of a sitting employee, and the slatted back and armrests provided additional support to increase the employee’s comfort. Like our modern chairs, many of these models were somewhat adjustable to provide the maximum comfort and thus the maximum working time.

The culture of the office also demanded that a distinct difference exist between the chairs that the employees used and that of the chief executive. When swivel chairs were widely used, the executive sat in a straight-backed chair with no mobility to demonstrate his status. As design of the office chair eliminated the arms and added cushioned seats, the executive chair became a large, upholstered chair with closed arms and wide, luxurious seats. Even today, the size (both height of the back and width of the seat) of an office chair demonstrates the status of the user. In the 20th century, this chair is very common in offices.
